A figure skater's costumes is possibly the most talked-about element of their performance, but no one knows much about how the costumes are made.

Visuals can speak louder than words. In this video, Adam Rippon visits Lisa McKinnon’s design studio in Los Angeles, where some of the most iconic Olympic figure skating costumes in skating are designed and created. Lisa is the designer and maker behind costumes worn by many Team USA figure skaters like Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, and Isabeau Levito. In addition to interviews with Lisa, let's take a trip through early sketches to hand-placed details, this is a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship, time, and teamwork it takes to create a single figure skating dress. These beautiful costumes are built for movement, durability, and pressure, and they often play a huge role in how skaters perform their stories on the ice.
