It bends, gets washed often, bumps on performance surfaces, mats, skates, bags, and safety equipment, and still needs to feel comfortable enough for daily practice.
Secure rhinestoning starts before the first crystal touches fabric. The best method depends on the garment, the amount of stretch, the wash routine, and the kind of sparkle you want. Hotfix stones, E6000 glue, sew-on crystals, and even rhinestuds can all work beautifully, but each one has a different strength.
The goal is simple: add shine that stays put, catches the light, and does not make training gear unsafe or annoying to wear.

Choose the right rhinestone method for the fabric
The safest choice is the one that matches the surface. A thick sweatshirt, a sleek skating jacket, a lycra leotard, and a nylon training vest do not need the same approach.

Always test on a hidden spot or scrap first. Press the iron or applicator for the same amount of time you plan to use on the design. Let the test stone cool completely, then try to lift it with a fingernail. If the surface puckers, melts, turns shiny, or the stone pops off easily, choose another method.
Hot fix tools that make placement easier
A hot fix applicator gives better control than a full-size iron for small work. It heats one stone at a time and helps avoid pressing the whole garment flat.

That flexibility makes it useful for training gear, but it needs care. E6000 has strong fumes, so use it in a well-ventilated space and follow the product label. Wear gloves if needed, protect the work surface, and keep it away from children, pets, food, and open flames.
A tiny amount goes a long way. Too much glue can ooze around the stone, dull the sparkle, and create stiff spots. The best bond usually comes from a small dot that spreads just to the edge of the crystal backing when pressed down.
How to glue stones without the mess
Pouring glue straight from the tube invites blobs. Instead, squeeze a small amount onto scrap cardboard or a disposable palette. Pick it up with a toothpick, syringe tip, or fine glue applicator.
Work in small sections. Place five to ten dots, set those stones, then move on. If you dot the whole design first, the glue may skin over before stones are placed.

Use strong polyester thread, not weak cotton thread that may snap under friction. Match the thread to the fabric or use clear monofilament carefully, since it can feel scratchy if left against skin. Knot securely and bury thread tails when possible.
